The New Thing
And yet another revisiting of one of my favorite cinema classics! Word has it that a new"The Thing" prequel will be coming out next April, and boy is me excited. I hope they don't cheese it up with some underlying political agenda like 'save the penguins' or 'global warming.' I won't set my expectations too high for Hollywood though.
The funny thing is that I had just recently told Bethany how I wanted to go back and watch the original with her sometime soon. Maybe around Halloween, or better yet after the first good snow of the season. I'm sure she will hate it inversely proportional to how much I love it. But I'm going to make her watch it anyway, top-o-the-line 1982 special effects and all.

Totally Tubular!
I am probably the last twenty-something male in the U.S. to have heard the big news, but it has come to my attention that they are in the works of producing a new live-action recreation of the one and only 80's franchise closest to my childhood heart:
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
When I read the news I was reminded of that butterflies-in-the-stomach excited sensation I had one Saturday morning when I first saw the preview for the original big-screen TMNT movie. To this day every time I watch a film or trailer that begins with the "new line cinema" logo I instinctively have that reaction. Don't get me wrong, I know this movie (if they actually follow through with making it) will be a let down of sorts, but that doesn't stop my anticipation that this may finally be the film that portrays the long-overdue badassitude they originally exemplified.
AND, I would very much appreciate it if they put me in charge of the soundtrack this time around.
Go ninja go ninja go!

This is over a year old, but still worth a watch.....
Remember to pray for our president.
We have hope in our sovereign God.
