RAVIN'

Just thought you may need to have a serious rave in your living room.

Right now.

I have been listening to too much hyperdub lately and this is what you get for it. Two items here:

1. RUSKO:

I stumbled across him over at Onlypieces.com and instantly loved this little diddy "everyday." Its so dang chipper and catchy. Its undeniable, should you choose not to deny it. And thus my sharing it. So, please, have some enjoyment of it.

2. SKRILLEX

No that's not Corey Feldman gone metal. It is LA's own Sonny Moore. Meet this kid on the street and you'd probably be inclined to request he pull up his pants, listen to his beats and you'll approve of his pants being worn in whatever fashion he sees fit. Even if you agree with the majority of humanity that this music is "...just too much ...something," and you refuse to take a serious listen then I'll take the liberty to inform you that this kid is talented.
My eldest of brothers told me to look into him, that I would pry think he's neat. Neat he is. His style of music is some kind of dark/awesome/strange/hilarious/epic. And if you have the amperage to crank up some of his more intense stuff (yes, this is his tamer stuff), you'll swear your house is being attacked by transformers. Just try it.

Addendum: accepted.

Pleasant surprise today, Radiohead emailed me. They just wanted to say thanks for buying their last album, and were like, "oh by the way, here are a couple bonus songs that we couldn't make fit on the album." That's what I call quality follow up.

I'm not sure why they didn't put them on the King of Limbs, they seem to fit in my opinion, but hey, they make their own rules these days. What's amazing is that these aren't b-side quality tracks, they're just as good as the rest of the album.

Also, you may say its unrelated, but I just have to include a couple of my new favorite things...

Inspiration

You know, these days have been pretty intense with tests, clinicals, work, and new babies. So when I came across this uplifing poem, I just knew I had to share it. Sure it may not be biblical, but it does play on the emotions, and to be frank, sometimes that's just what you need.

Too far? Or just too funny...

you take the blue pill...

Here we have some more blues music. Not that it falls into the genre of blues, obviously, but it can trigger the blues and is thus well suited for gray skies and lazy afternoons. These particular tracks are soft, slow, and altogether unoffensive to the aural palate. I don't know what has happened to me in my old age, but I'm all about easy listening. It creeps me out a little. Perhaps I don't have the mental energy to rock out anymore, or maybe I am just growing sentimental in my old age. Either way most of the angst of my younger years has cleared up along with my complexion, so I really have a minimal appetite for rockin rock music. I think the last rock song I purchased was Black Rain by Soundgarden last August. I will admit to my shame, however, that I do still pull out some of the occasional hippity hop that just may include some rap. Most of my friends and family are ready for me to grow out of that phase. I kind of am as well, but I'm still a sucker for dope beats, MC'd or otherwise.

ANYWAY- I have provided a spectacular yet dour picture for which to gaze upon as you sulk in these tunes. I love this photo because: it was obviously taken in flight, it looks like it could be Kansas, and this winter morning is just beautiful (look at all those frosted trees!)

BUT WAIT!

I don't want you to think that I mope around all day longing for the past just because I listen to mellow tunes. And you probably think, "this is the most depressing website in all of cyberspace, it always leaves me feeling like I'm in a Cymbalta commercial." To which I say fine, fine, I have included an alternative playlist of the funkier persuasion. Therefore, should you feel so inclined, you have my permission to pause the above video and play the one below. I can then assure you that within minutes you will be up dancing about your livingroom/bathroom/office or any other whereabouts you may be occupying.

I know I'm guilty...

This is as convicting as it is relevant.
