"Do you not think we frequently limit our estimate of serving God to the public exercises of the sanctuary and forget the strong claims that our Lord has upon our private fidelity and obedience? You say, "I cannot serve God," when you cannot teach in the school or preach in the pulpit, when you are unable to sit on a committee or speak on a platform - as if these were the only forms of service to be taken into account. Do you not think that a mother nursing her baby is serving God? Do you not think that men and women going about their daily toil with patient industry discharging the duties of domestic life are serving God? If you think rightly, you will understand they are. The servant sweeping the room, the mistress preparing the meal, the workman driving a nail, the merchant casting up his ledger, ought to do all in the service of God. Though, of course, it is very desirable that we should each and all have some definitely religious work before us, yet it is much better that we should hallow our common handicraft and make our ordinary work chime with the melodies of a soul attuned for heaven.
Let true religion be our life, and our life will be true religion.
That is how it ought to be. "And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." (Col 3:17) So, then, let the stream of your common life as it flows on -obscure, unobserved- be holy and courageous. You will find that while "they also serve who only stand and wait," you shall not be neglected or overlooked who simply sit at Jesus' feet and listen to His words when you can do no more. This is service done for Him that He can appreciate, complain who may."

Yay for the music.
Alas!
Tycho's new album is on the horizon! Its been almost three years since his last LP and that kind of wait is straight up uncalled for. But mark thee thy calenders, for Nov 15th his new album Dive is released forth.
In addition to music generating, Tycho is also a brazilliant design artist, and he comes up with superdope images like such as:

This album cover totally captures the vibe of his unique/airy/melancholic/ethereal sound, so it is a quite fitting visual for this single "hours" which is currently manipulating your eardrums (to considerable satisfaction).
Furthermore, following the 5min hours single we have a few other random goodies in this particular order:
Angelica by Lamb
Live in Vanilla by Boy Robot
Milan by Karsh Kale and
Tycho's Coastal Break remixed by Lusine
If you're not into music that fosters a simultaneity of longings for both the past and the future, then, it pains me to say, this may not be the music for you. But once again, this mix is not directly sad, it just maintains some of that underlying nostalgia I always gravitate toward. And by the way, in my opinion, for the record, in case you were wondering, I think that anyone who really thinks long and hard about anything in this life will find oneself sorrowful (...yet, by grace, always rejoicing).
So take a moment, preferably this one, and chill thyself on this:

Young Ones
Surprise.
A blog.
S'ben a while, no? How have you been?? Good, yes?
Good, well, moving along...
I missed the entire month of June without a single post and I dang near missed July, but I thought I'd better put some effort into this here webpage, lest my readers grow upset with me and hate me. So if you've been checking this daily seething in disappointment every time you were greeted by the same inspiring video, I'm sorry. But only a little sorry, because it's a good video.
So today's magic word is: babies.
Currently babies = life, and I don't see that changing for a couple decades. But despite the loss of all things autonomous, I've enjoyed the dickens out of fatherhood. I'm really surprised by this because I remember dragging my feet when it came to shopping and filling our house with baby goods. All I knew is that I didn't want to suffer the fate of all the other unsuspecting parents who end up with the living room looking like a Fisher-Price garage sale. But after having the youngsters for several months, I've grown ok with it. Nay, I enjoy it. Anything that makes them happy, makes me happy. It's like having kids make you skip from cool mr.never-act-a-fool to sentimental mr.cheesy-parental. (Did you like that rhymery? It took me way too long to come up with.)
I swear every stupid little thing they do, excluding emesis and excrement, melts my innards. I hardly even call them by their real names. Instead they've become every derivative of wittle punkins or muff'ns. But seriously, can you think of words more fitting? I cannot.
But now I'm in a real pickle because I don't want this to become another sappy blog about my kids, but they've dang near absorbed every spare corner of my life, and I am really stretching to conjure up other blog topics. And since I've been out of school, I don't even have the time to sort through oodles of music whilst I do my homework. *Sniffles* I guess I should be glad that the homework part is done I guess. Even this playlist I made way back when. Its dope, no?? What, you turned it off? That's it, I'm done here.

Happy Birthday
...to me blog!
So its been a whole year since I started this otiose atrocity, and I do believe we need a celebration. I'll give you a second to go find your party hat.

OK! So things that are new with me:
I am one year wiser, and when I say 'wiser' I mean I have more gray hair. That's pretty exciting.
I have two amazing kids. That I think are amazing even though all they do is eat, poop, cry, and poop. Somehow that merits me loving the dickens out of them? (I'm fuzzy on the logic/science behind that, but goodness knows its true.)
My babies' momma is now a full-time stay-at-home mom, and a fabulous one at that.
I only have a few days left of nursing school.
Lets see... I have three 12" sub woofers in my living room that haven't been utilized in the last six weeks and its starting to bother me. :( sad faces ): I'm told babies have sensitive hearing; I say they need an early acquaintance with loud music. I never win this disagreement.
Aaaaaand.... that's about it. I'm a simple man, what can I say.
Now the exciting stuff! We here at Otiöse Morosity found it most advisable to implement some groundbreaking upgrades! (Upgrades so exciting and noteworthy that Steve Jobs should be introducing them.)
These include and are limited to:
A 'Popular Posts' section at the bottom of the page for those days when you're feeling like a stroll down memory lane of the best of times we've had together.
A 'neat' check box on each new post. For those numerous occasions that you're so moved by the incredible incredibility of a particular blog that you are left with a loss for words to describe your pleasure. (Excepting the word "neat" of course.) Its kind of similar to "liking" things on the facebook ...only neater.
I've also reduced the number of posts per page for ultra-super-mega fast page loads, and to allow quicker access to the popular posts feature at the bottom, which I'm certain will be put to constant use. Constant.
A new subtitle to the blog. This was necessary because the reference to my custodian friend is no longer applicable, and because I think that subtitles that include clever oxymorons increase the credibility of my extreme coolness.
And lastly, (what I'm most excited about) the use of SoundCloud to embed my invasive music!!! Now I don't have to deal with low-fi youtubes where the videos were constantly being removed or dropped, thus dinking with the flow of the playlist (a peeve of my pet).
So without further todo, I leave you with some substantial electronic beats (featuring artists like such as: Aphex Twin, Siriusmo, Pantyraid, and Eskmo) mixed by yours truly*. These beats go deep, so if you haven't invested in some form of subwoofing adequate to appreciate them, now is the time.
So come, let us celebrate.
