For the listener

Weyll weyll weyll, what have we here...

...more unsolicited music! But this time you need to be excited, because ... I said so. Let's be honest anyway, I primarily started this blog for the aspect of having a musical outlet, otherwise this junk is exuding out of me with nowhere to go.

But seriously though, THIS playlist is my favorite! Why you ask? I answer: because it fits perfectly with a couple of my most favorite things, rainy days and falling asleep. Whats that you quibble? It is neither raining, nor are you about to fall asleep? Let me analogize: Beer goes great with pizza, but beer is not exclusive to accompany pizza consumption. Same idea here. Or perhaps you are not one to listen to music as you drift to asleepy place, wherefore I propose you haven't tried sleeping to these tunes. Whats that you say? You didn't know you could converse with my blog? Well, I believe you stand corrected.

And do not be fooled by the initial seemingly upbeat impression you're hearing; for, henceforth every song you listen to will be sleepier than its predecessor. And I confess in all sincerity that each one of these tunes fondle my emotions in some uniquely charming way, enough so that I've employed the awkward verbiage 'fondle' to describe it.

1. LORN (Cherry Moon)- is superdope. This is my favorite track of his and after about 100 listens, it remains three minutes of my day well spent.
2.
Henrik José (Energy is for Henrik)- Originally when I heard this song I was not impressed due to it being essentially uneventful. But upon the third and fourth listen I realized that I love it... very much. I'm again not entirely sure why, besides it giving me that unique happy/sad sensation that only this kind of music can achieve.
3. Radiohead
(Separator) - This new song off 'The King of Limbs' is flawless in my book, and if you have not yet acquired said album I must give thee a firm rebuke.
Rebuke: COMMENCED

... aaaaand rebuke complete.
Believe me, it was for your own good. You may think you have better ways to use your hard earned dollars, but I contend that to be most unlikely. Furthermore, due to the nearly inexhaustible nature of their music you get your $9 worth many times over. They have always produced solid albums, and this one follows that trend. (Beit only 37 minutes)
4. Moths (Heart) - This song has a subtle beatific element strung over a pronounced 'heart'-like beat which transitions nicely into...
5. Darkstar (Dear Heartbeat) - I have no idea what this guy is singing about and nowhere can I find the lyrics (any help?), but I dig forth the presence of melancholia in his tone; very Röyksopp meets Air.
6. Jon Hopkins (Light through the Veins) - This song is very Ulrich Schnauss-esque and every time I listen to it it evokes profound elation. And I am not one to suffer from unchecked emotions, but this one does it. If you don't have the patience to let this track do its job via audio aesthetics alone, try incorporating your conscious intellect by reading Romans 8 with the music in the background. (That's right, folks, techno to the glory of God.)
7. Memoryhouse (Lately) - Solemn and nostalgic; makes me miss everyone I love simultaneously (with gusto).
8. Radiohead (Codex) - More (unfiltered) excellence.
9. Shlohmo (Ghosts pt.2) - Love these piano loops and strong slow beat. Tip-top trip-hop.
10. Geotic (Find Your Peace) - His whole album "Mend" is the best ambient work I've come across. I just had to cherry pick a couple of my favorites which fit nicely in the flow of this playlist.
11. Halogen (Length and Brecht) - This song has a lot of way peaceful textures floating around and making it uberdreamy (moreso than Justin Bieberboy).
12. Geotic (Get Held) - If you're not asleep by now, this lil' lullaby oughta do it.
13. A Setting Sun (Raspberry) - Another great ambient track with seamless layers of natural soundscapes and thrumming synth chords.

WELP, there you have it, an hour of bliss. I know most are not willing to listen and will not get to take in the rapturous experience offered you. But as a music junkie, I cannot bear the responsibility of having such excellent musics and not using this blog as the obligatory proxy between them and your ears.

All to say, I have taken your proverbial horse to water...

Stuffington Post

So you may be sitting at home wondering whatever became of this young Fluffington.

This is what happened.

I wanted to get a similar picture of her sitting in my hand to contrast the previous pic, but the turd will not be held in such a fashion anymore. She is m'bout 5 months old now and is definitely a lanky teen these days, having the energy to match. She's had her front pawnails removed a couple months back, and after several hilarious incidents of bouncing off furniture she intended to climb, she's pretty well adjusted. And if you think we're cruel, just consider all the discipline she doesn't have to experience every dad-gum time she would've tried to ruin our things. Now her impotent little paws pose no threat to us or our opulent stuff*.

(*as in household goods, personal belongings, things in general; not Stuff the cat)

Today she goes in to get fixed. And not because she's broken, but because she's become overly flirtatious with Dweezil, and we do not condone such behavior in this house. (It disturbs Bethany.) But on a lighter note, Dweezil has slowly become more accepting of our new roomie. Though most of their interaction is biting, scratching, and wraslting, they do sometimes end up as snuggle buds.

Like I said earlier, she's not a cat to be held against her will, but she will snuggle the dickens out of you on her terms. She remains cute as ever, and is obviously enjoying her plush adopted life.

Fresh beats?

Rest assured, they've never been pickled.

Isn't this just what your face was longing for? Some more intrusive music and disturbed cover art to match?? Well, I'm glad to deliver.

I chanced upon this artist Tokimonsta and was surprised (shocked even) to find out its a lady. These beats don't sound feminine, but apparently I stand corrected. Nay, impressed. AND she has great taste in cover art; I don't know why, but this high beaming robo-DJ from India offering Extra Strength Tylenol pleases me.

Another bonus: This playlist is relatively short, so you may just have the endurance to get through the entirety of its whopping twenty-four minutes, but I won't get my skivvies in a twist if you can't make it without biting. Nonetheless, I assure you these tunes prove great for the chilling, or for the relaxing, and possibly for the interpretive dancing. (Chillaxing, however, is strictly contraindicated.)

Ninjoy!

real quick...

Coupla things...

One: Remember that storm last Tuesday?

You know, that one? Well this is NASA's view.

And Two: I cannot get enough of these; Bethany, conversely, has had quite enough.

Scrumdiddlyumptious

Pogo is amazing.

If you recall from my December playlist you didn’t listen to, I put a pogo song called “Wishery” on it with a bunch of snippets from Disney’s Snow White. I didn’t even realize what the samples were from until Bethany told me it was Snow White. But anyway, I’ve been steadily listening to more and more of Pogo’s material primarily because his synth-wave base lines are so awesome; but when I came across his website, I came to realize that he’s not just a lowly DJ, but actually a VJ, and a prodigious one at that. (That is: Video Jockey, for my less electronically inclined audience.) Some videos are less eventful than others, but most of them make me laugh at some point or on some level; the music is also surprisingly relaxing for being so chopped and glitched. I don’t spect all’y’all to be down with the … irregularity of the videos, but you should at least try listening to some of these ill jams and dope jellies.

Thank you for your interest and unagreed upon commitment to this.

POST!

Dear You,

HELLO.

I have been slacking on the blog front lately, and for that, I apologize; but I assure you ...it will happen again. I really thought I'd get some top notch blogs done over my break, but time has proven more scarce than previously anticipated. And with the ensuing new spring semester now bearing down on me, I imagine this place is going to get really stale for a while. I know that I, myself, stand most disappointed, being my most dedicated reader and all. But what I can promise you is this:

Nothing.

Kidding, kidding! Don't panic and cry and soil yourself in a fit of mild disapproval. I'll prolly post some totally awesome videos/pictures/music from time to time (after all, my most notable features could essentially be boiled down to the oddities that interests me).

I now leave you with these most excellently peaceful and spiritually satisfying piano pieces. And if you listen to Rachmaninoff's 'piano concerto no.2' and the last couple minutes don't give you even a little lump in the throat or a single goosebump, then do me a favor: check your pulse, assess your reflexes, self-administer a digital rectal exam, and then disregard all collected data, because you have no soul. (Don't even try to comprehend the grammatical algorithms in that sentence, it would blow all our minds.)

Adieu for now! If I don't see you in the future . . . I'll see you in the pasture.

The Dark Side of the Lens

This video has a synergy of inspiration and terror.
Makes me wish I wasn't so scared of the ocean.

I'm free!

I've been running around my house like Ralphy with a new Red Ryder ever since I finished my last assignment for this semester. I've got an entire month free to do anything but study! Be it hang christmas lights, paint nurseries, or do dishes, I am excited to do all things apart from school. (Yes, Bethany, you can quote me.)

My primary action item: Listen to cheery synth-pop!

I'm lovin upon this little EP i came across that is for free to anyone/everyone. I've given it many'a'listens and haven't gotten tired of it yet (which is odd for simple music). All to say a free Body Language EP is well worth the price. (Or your money back!)
